This area is a hunting ground for the world-famous Fairburn Agate, the State Gemstone of South Dakota.
Extract from a state geology children's book.
A beautiful find! I just washed the dirt off and the colors popped.
A variety of finds.
Agate with a rich magenta color. This will be gorgeous after being tumbled and polished.
A collection of quartz with a wide variety of color and clarity. Some rose quartz, and one smoky quartz.
Interesting banded finds.
Lots of Bubblegum Agate. Geologists are uncertain of its origin, but they appear to come from coral when South Dakota was at the bottom of an ancient ocean. Some have very interesting patterns inside.
